RGB becomes first RRB with full CBS

Berhampur (Orissa),�Feb 15 (PTI) Rushikulya Gramya Bank(RGB) has become the first regional rural bank (RRB) in Orissawith full core banking solution.

There are five RRBs functioning in the state.

All the 81 branches of RGB located in Ganjam (71)and Gajapati (10) districts were migrated to CBS yesterdaycoinciding with the foundation day of the Berhampur-basedbank, which turned 31.

"Our bank is the first RRB in Orissa to implement fullCBS facility, much before the stipulated time directed bythe Reserve Bank of India (RBI)," its chairman PVSTR SeshagiriRao.

The Centre had directed RRBs in the country to implementCBS before the end of September, 2011.

"With technical support from Andhra Bank, which is oursponsor bank, we have been able to migrate to CBS all branchesincluding those located in remote areas in a period of twomonths," he said.

CBS was introduced first at the Gate Bazar branch hereon December 18 last year.

The volume of business of the bank is expected tobe increased following the introduction of CBS, Rao saidadding it also planned to issue debit cards to itscustomers.

RGB would explore utilising ATMs of its sponsor bank toallow customers withdraw money from anywhere in the country,he added.
