Pakistan apprehends 16 Indian fishermen

Ahmedabad, Feb 14 (PTI) Pakistani Marine Security Agency(PMSA) has apprehended 16 Indian fishermen and seized threeboats from the Indo-Pak marine border in Arabian Sea nearJakhau on the west coast of Kutch district, the NationalFishworkers Forum (NFF) claimed today.

"Three boats from Porbander, carrying 16 fishermen wereapprehended by PMSA yesterday when they were fishing near theIndo-Pak maritime border. They have been taken to Karachi,"NFF''s Gujarat secretary Manish Lodhari told PTI.

He said that after the Indian fishermen reached Karachi,his counterpart there informed him about the development.

According to Porbander Boat Association president HiralalSiyar, over 470 boats of Gujarat fishermen have been seized bythe Pakistani agency.

He further said that over 200 fishermen from the statewere languishing in Pakistani jail.

Last month, PMSA had apprehended 21 Indian fishermen fromthe Indo-Pak marine border in the Arabian Sea.

They had also seized over six boats of the fishermen, whohailed from Porbander in Gujarat.
