BSF porter killed, four others injured in avalanche

Srinagar, Feb 7 (PTI) A porter of Border SecurityForce (BSF) was killed and four others were injured in anavalanche in Gurez sector of Bandipora area near the Line ofControl (LoC) in Kashmir, police said today.

The incident occurred last night and among the fourinjured, three are BSF jawans, they said.

"An avalanche struck upon a BSF post at Kabul Gali inGurez sector, killing 45-year-old Jamal Ahmad Lone (porter),"a police spokesperson said.

Authorities have issued avalanche warnings in severalareas of the Valley including Gurez, Tangdhar, Macchil, Keranand Karnah along the LoC.
