Jewellery showroom owner shot dead by robbers

Allahabad, Jan 12 (PTI) Armed robbers tonight struck at ajewellery showroom situated in the heart of the city, killedits owner and decamped with valuables worth lakhs of rupees,police said.

The incident took place at the shop located in a marketcomplex alongside the busy Mahatma Gandhi Road in Civil LinesPolice Station area, Inspector Rajveer Singh said.

He said five persons, with their faces masked, bargedinto the showroom as its owner Dhruv Agrawal and three otheremployees were preparing to close the shop for the day.

The robbers took all the occupants of the showroom atgun-point and began looting the ornaments.

When Agrawal tried to resist, the robbers shot at himleaving him critically injured and fled after filling theirbag with jewellery, the Inspector said adding that theshowroom owner died while being taken to a hospital.

A case has been registered in this connection and policewere trying to ascertain the exact value of the valuables thathave been looted.
