US farmer fined $5K for growing excess veggies on his farm

Melbourne, Sep 14 (ANI): An American farmer has been fined 5000 dollars for growing vegetables on his own farmland.

According to reports from WSB-TV in Atlanta, DeKalb County officials claimed that Steve Miller violated local zoning laws by growing too many crops on his land.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Miller, of Clarkston, Georgia, said he has had his two-acre piece of property rezoned and vowed to fight the allegations.

County officials began ticketing Miller last year for the alleged violations and for having "un-permitted employees" on his property, the report said.

However, the farmer countered by telling the station that he has been doing the same for last 15 years and then puts the crops on sale in the local market.

"It's a way of life, like it's something in my blood," the Courier Mail quoted Miller as telling WSB. (ANI)
