Stuck In South Delhi? Avoid Chhattarpur Road And Bhatti Mines Due To Religious Gathering

Traffic movement in parts of South Delhi is expected to remain affected from the intervening night of July 6 till late night on July 7 because of a large religious gathering at Guruji Ashram near Bhatti Mines. The Delhi Traffic Police has advised commuters to avoid Chhattarpur Road, also known as SSN Marg, and plan alternative routes during the advisory period.

The restrictions have been announced in view of the Guruji Birthday Celebration at the ashram, where a large number of devotees from different parts of India are expected to arrive. VIPs and dignitaries are also likely to attend, increasing the pressure on approach roads around Bhatti Mines, Chhattarpur and Mehrauli.

Delhi traffic advisory for Chhattarpur Road and Bhatti Mines

According to the advisory, all devotees and vehicles heading towards Guruji Ashram will be routed through SSN Marg. Police said traffic may remain slow or disrupted around Chhattarpur Road, Bhatti Mines Road, the Gadaipur Police Post area and roads leading to the ashram complex.

Commuters who do not need to travel towards the venue have been asked to avoid these stretches. The advisory is especially important for people travelling between South Delhi, Mehrauli, Gurugram Road, Mandi Road, Dera Border and nearby areas, as diversions may add to travel time.

The Delhi Traffic Police has also advised devotees to reach the ashram before 5 am to reduce congestion during peak arrival hours. Informational signages have been placed around the venue to guide motorists and help manage the expected rush of vehicles and pedestrians.

The affected routes include SSN Marg or Chhattarpur Road, Bhatti Mines Road, the Gadaipur Police Post area and roads around Guruji Ashram at Bhatti Mines. Traffic police personnel are expected to regulate movement at key junctions and diversion points through the day.

Heavy vehicle restrictions from midnight on July 6

Heavy Transport Vehicles will face restrictions between Chhattarpur Road and the Gurugram Road T-Point for 24 hours from midnight on July 6. The move is aimed at preventing bottlenecks on roads already expected to handle a heavy inflow of devotees and private vehicles.

Heavy vehicles coming from the Mandi-Dera Border side towards Guruji Ashram Complex will not be allowed to take a right turn at Gadaipur Police Post. These vehicles will be diverted straight towards Mehrauli-Gurugram Road, as per the traffic arrangement announced by police.

Heavy vehicles approaching from the Bhatti Mines side will be diverted through Bandh Road, Jonapur and Mehrauli Road. Transporters and commercial drivers using these stretches should factor in longer travel time and follow directions issued by traffic personnel on the ground.

For regular commuters, the restrictions may affect office travel, airport-bound movement from nearby colonies, and local trips between Chhattarpur, Mandi, Jonapur, Dera Mandi, Mehrauli and Gurugram Road. Motorists are advised to check traffic updates before starting their journey.

Emergency vehicles allowed on affected routes

Police said emergency vehicles will not be restricted on the affected roads. Delhi Police vehicles, ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and other emergency service vehicles will be allowed to move as required, even while traffic regulation remains in force around the congregation site.

Emergency vehicles entering from Faridabad through Dera More and Mandi Border have been advised to use Mehrauli-Gurugram Road to avoid delays. This route has been suggested to ensure faster access and reduce the chance of emergency vehicles getting caught in local congestion.

Such advisories are common in Delhi during large religious, political or public gatherings, particularly in areas with narrow approach roads and mixed local traffic. Bhatti Mines and Chhattarpur see regular movement of residents, commercial vehicles and inter-city traffic, making advance regulation necessary.
