London, Sept 14 (ANI): A senior municipal official in Portugal has come into the limelight after he bit a traffic police officer during a discussion over a fine, just because he did not address him as "sir".

Esequiel Lino, 64, an aide to the mayor of Lisbon's Oeiras, had come to the police station in Portugal to protest at his daughter's car being towed away by police.

According to the Diario de Noticias daily, a police source said the official became infuriated when a young policeman told him to stop shouting, and addressed him by using the familiar form of "you", without the honorific "sir".

"He started verbally abusing the officers, kicking the desk and was warned several times, but it didn't stop him," the Telegraph quoted a police spokeswoman as saying.

"He went on and ended up biting one of the officers in the arm, and had to be detained," she revealed.

The officer had to be treated in a hospital. (ANI)
