Two-thirds of New Yorkers want mosque moved away from Ground Zero: Poll
London, Sep 1 (ANI): More than two-thirds of New Yorkers have raised objections to the proposed mosque and community center near Ground Zero, a poll conducted by the new Quinnipiac University has revealed.
The Park 51 project has triggered a debate in the country following US President Barack Obama's assertion that its proponents had the 'legal right' to build the proposed center then.
The poll also found that 71 percent of voters want Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to investigate the funding of the project.
Earlier on July 1, the poll conducted by Quinnipiac University said 52 percent of New York City voters opposed the building of the proposed 13-floor center two blocks north of Ground Zero.
Republicans have used it as a campaign wedge issue, reports the Daily News. (ANI)
