Malaysian court rejects minister's defamation application against Tamil newspaper
Kuala Lumpur, Aug 19(ANI): A Malaysian court has rejected Human Resources Minister Dr. S. Subramaniam's application to stop a Tamil newspaper from continuing to publish articles which he claimed were defamatory.
Subramaniam had sued Makkal Osai claiming that the newspaper had defamed him in three articles published on May 24, 25 and 29.n his statement of claim, Subramaniam had claimed that the articles portrayed him as an untrustworthy politician, a hypocrite and a fraud.
He had also applied for an injunction to stop the newspaper from further publishing the defamatory allegations against him.
Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Justice Zabariah Mohd Yusof however dismissed the application with costs after hearing submissions from all parties in chambers.
According to The Star, there was no ground given by the judge in dismissing the application. (ANI)
