Assam: 2 armed ULFA insurgents killed in encounter

Goalpara, Aug 16: In the Assam's Goalpara district two armed insurgents were killed in an encounter with a joint police and CRPF team on Monday, Aug 16.

A Chinese hand grenade, a 9-mm pistol and ten rounds of ammunition were recovered from the insurgents who are identified as Pathak Rabha (20) and Francis Rabha (26).

According to the police sources, the two armed ultras from the 109 battalion of ULFA fired at the security personnel during routine patrolling by forces at Doosrapara Matia under Goalpara police station.

As the personnel pursued the ultras inside the jungles, an exchange of fire ensued and the two militants were killed at around 5 am.
