We welcome Indian companies: Afghanistan
Kabul, Jul 20: Afghan Minister for Minerals Wahidullah Shahrani, met S M Krishna on Monday, Jul 19 and said his government is moving ahead with plans to tap the huge mineral resources recently discovered in his country and welcomed Indian companies to tap the resources.
“We welcome Indian companies with good reputation to tap the resources in Afghanistan," said the Afghan minister, Wahidullah Shahrani.
Moreover, the just-inked Afghan-Pakistan trade agreement would make it easier for Indian companies to excavate the export the minerals to India via road.
After the vast Afghanistan"s mineral wealth discovered by the American geologists, the New York Times quoted that, "Afghanistan has huge veins of raw material like iron, copper, cobalt, gold, metals, which are fundamentally enough to alter the Afghan economy."
Even the Afghan government is moving ahead with open tendering and making the necessary infrastructure for the mining industry in Afghanistan.
