Silvio Berlusconi, wife meet to discuss divorce

London, Feb 1 (ANI): Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and wife Veronica Lario met nine months after estrangement to discuss details of their divorce settlement.

According to the Italian media, the couple exchanged details of alleged infidelities during bitter divorce talks.

The couple spent 20 minutes in the same room during a five-hour meeting between their lawyers.

Lario is demanding 3.5 million euros a month in maintenance from her husband of 19 years.

"The meeting in front of the judge took place and divorce is now inevitable," the Telegraph quoted a spokesman for Lario as saying.

She said that she couldn't stay with a man who "associates with minors".

It was a reference to Berlusconi's friendship with a teenage model whose 18th birthday party he attended last year.

A pro-Berlusconi paper claimed Lario had an affair with her bodyguard, which neither of them commented on.

However, friends of the bodyguard insist there was no truth in the story.

The talks took place at the Milan prefect's office on Jan 30 in front of a civil judge.

The next court hearing is scheduled for next month. (ANI)
