Parliamentarian's affair with teen rocks N Ireland

Belfast, Jan 9: A Northern Ireland sex scandal involving 58-year-old member of the Parliament, Iris Robinson's affair with a 19-year-old male lover has taken the international media and the internet by a storm.

While many reports are comparing the soap Opera-like drama to Hollywood flicks like 'The Graduate', at least five Facebook groups with hundreds of followers have surfaced.

Mrs Robinson, who is also the wife of a government leader Peter Robinson, not only has a relationship with a young man nearly 40 years younger than her, but is also embroiled in a corruption scandal.

Mrs Robinson arranged 50,000 pound loan from two property developers to finance her 19-year-old lover Kirk McCambley's restaurant.

BBC interviewed the now 21-year-old McCambley on the months-long 2008 relationship with Robinson.

"She looked out for me to make sure I was OK," McCambley told the BBC, adding that she gave him two checks for 25,000 pounds each, but she then asked him for 5,000 pounds back, possibly to make a donation to a church.

This comes created trouble for the husband, Peter Robinson as BBC reported that he was aware of this financial deal but did not report it.

While the now 60-year-old Iris Robinson has decided to leave politics, the husband struggles to stay even under heavy opposition from rivals.
