London law firm offers Christmas gifts: Divorce vouchers!
London, Dec 18 (ANI): Lloyd Platt and Company, a London-based law firm is offering unhappy couples what it claims a "must have" Christmas present - divorce gift vouchers.
The firm says it has received hundreds of enquiries about the vouchers since they were put on sale in November.
A couple can have half-hour or hour-long advice sessions with a lawyer on a voucher.
Priced at 125pounds plus VAT for one, the firm claims to have already sold as many as 54.
"Christmas can be a very stressful time for families as we have always seen by the huge increase of people seeking advice in January," the Telegraph quoted senior partner Vanessa Lloyd Platt, as saying.
She said: "The vouchers seem to appeal to an enormously wide spread spectrum of people looking for that 'must have' gift for Christmas."
She added: "We hope through the vouchers that we can offer clients all the practical options available to them - divorce being only one of the options."
However, some like Dave Percival, the organiser of the annual National Marriage Week, have criticised the firm's move.
He said: "It's typical ambulance chasing by lawyers who are doing this for business reasons.
"Anyone looking to buy this would be much better off paying for couples to get counselling." (ANI)
