Fire engulfs chemical factory, warehouse in Kanpur

Kanpur, Apr 20 (ANI): A major fire broke out in a chemical factory and a warehouse at Koparganj in Kanpur on Monday.

Chemicals and plastics worth about a million rupees have been destroyed.haram Veer Singh Superintendent of Police (SP) said that the police and fire officials had reached the spot immediately after the information regarding the fire was received.

He added that although the scale of fire was huge, there were no casualties.

"Two godowns have caught fire. The fire is very fierce. Six fire tenders of the fire brigade are involved in efforts to extinguish the fire. Our jawans (constabulary), CFO (chief fire officer), FSO (fire station officer), the local police are also participating in the process. The casualty count has been nil," said Dharam Veer Singh.

The fire created panic among the residents of the area.he magnitude of fire was so huge that the sky was filled with black smoke, spreading panic amongst the residents, who came out on the streets fearing for their safety.

The warehouse and the chemical factory belonged to M. Gupta, a businessman. (ANI)
