UK's worst serial rapist may have raped 200 women
London, Mar 14: A 51-year-old cabbie, who has been dubbed Britain's worst serial rapist, carried out vile attacks on 200 young women, it has emerged.
John Worboys has been found guilty of one rape, five sexual assaults, one attempted assault and twelve charges of drugging women.
Worboys, a retired stripper, drugged his victims before pouncing on them in the back of his black cab, the police said.
He was caught after he preyed on 12 young women he picked up in his black cab in London's West End and wealthy Kensington.
Cops, however, fear there may be hundreds more following the revelation that 85 women had come forward so far claiming he attacked them too.
Officially, cops link Worboys to 85 attacks from 2002 to 2008.
"He is probably the most prolific sex offender caught in the UK to date. It's safe to say he has claimed at least 200 victims," The Sun quoted a police source, as saying.
Worboys offered his victims a glass of champagne to help him toast a fake lottery or casino win, Croydon Crown Court was told.
The bubbly was filled with powerful sedatives that left the women unable to defend themselves. And once the drugs took affect he molested them, raping one and assaulting another with a sex toy.
He denied drugging or sexually assaulting the women and claimed some passengers made inappropriate advances towards him.
But after two days of deliberations at the end of a seven-week trial he was found guilty.
Police also found a 'rape kit' including miniature bottles of champagne, gloves, condoms and a torch at his home.
Worboys, of Rotherhithe, southeast London, faced 23 charges including rape, sexual assault and administering a substance with intent.
He was found guilty of 21 charges of drugging and sexually assaulting 12 passengers. The jury cleared him of two counts of administering a drug with intent.
