Layoff: Man kills self, family in US

Los Angeles, Jan 28: In a heartrending incident, a man killed his wife and five children before committing suicide on Tuesday, Jan 27 at their home in California. Reason: He was disturbed over his job loss.

The man killed his wife, an eight-year-old girl, twin five-year-old daughters and twin 2-year-old sons, following which, he killed himself. said Deputy Chief Kenneth Garner. Police of US state of California said a revolver was found at the home in Wilmington, California.

Before the incident, the man had sent a letter to a Burbank television station about his plan to kill his family and commit suicide. The television station later notified the police. The television channel stated that, both man and his wife were lay-offed from their jobs as medical technicians. Hence they decided to kill themselves and their kids too.

'Why leave the children to a stranger?' the man wrote, according to the television channel.
In his fax to the channel, he had expressed his deep sorrow for being fired out of his job. He also told that an administrator out rightly rejected them and told them to file a union grievance and said, 'You should have blown your brains out.'

Though we filed a grievance, nothing was done and we were fired, he wrote to the TV channel.
