Pak shuts NATO supplies as operation to flush out militants begins in Khyber-pass

Peshawar, Dec.30 (ANI): Supplies to the NATO and the US forces in Afghanistan via the Khyber-pass have been suspended due to a major operation launched by the security forces in the region.

"Supplies to NATO forces have temporarily been suspended," The News quoted an official, as saying.

The military operation being jointly carried out by the forces, aims to flush out militants from the region.

"The operation involving artillery, tanks and helicopter gunships was launched before dawn in Jamrood against criminal elements and militants," The News quoted political agent Khyber Agency Tariq Hayat Khan, as saying."Our targets are very clear and specific. We're after them (militants) and will try our best to avoid civilian losses," Khan said.

"The main highway linking Peshawar to the border town of Torkham has been shut down until the operation is complete," he added. (ANI)
