India, Indonesia sign MoUs on agriculture, sports

Jakarta, Dec 1 (UNI) India and Indonesia today signed two MoUs on agriculture and sports in presence of President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and her Indonesian counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Aswani Kumar, Minister of State in the Department of Industrial Policy&Promotion, Adhyaksa Dault, Minister of State of Youth and Sports Affairs, and Anton Apriyantono, Agriculture Minister were also present on the occasion.

The MoUs for cooperation in agriculture and allied sectors update the earlier MoU signed in February 1992. Its objective is to encourage and develop technical and professional cooperation in the field of agriculture between the two countries and envisages cooperation in the field of agriculture research, crops horticulture, agricultural machinery, agro processing, poultry and water management and application of bio technology.

The other MoU on sports seeks to encourage and facilitate cooperation between the two governments, youth and sports agencies, and other related organisations of the two nations.
