President Pratibha Patil condoles death of V P Singh

Hanoi, Nov 27 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil today said the nation had become poorer in the death of former Prime Minister V P Singh whom she described as a person deeply committed to the cause of social justice, throughout his life.

President Patil who is on a state visit to Vietnam, said in a message that Vishwanath Pratap Singh always enjoyed handling challenging situations in all positions that he held, right from being the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh to the Prime Minister of India.

The country had lost a national leader who was known for his rectitude and commitment for the cause of the downtrodden, she said.
