Miliband asks Pak to directly engage with US to resolve drone strikes issue
Islamabad, Nov 27 : British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, who is currently on a visit to Pakistan, has reportedly urged Islamabad and Washington to resolve the problem of the drone attacks, and asked Pakistan to engage directly with the US to stop these raids.
"Pakistan should engage with the US government to get the drone attacks stopped," the Daily Times quoted Miliband as saying while speaking at the International Islamic University.
Earlier, David Miliband told Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi that there was a greater world attention on Pakistan in the regional economic and security context.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, Miliband welcomed the 'reforming zeal' of Pakistan's civilian government, which, he said, was turning the country into an outward-looking force for regional co-operation and gaining the world's confidence.
"I think it's also very significant, the foreign policy dialogue that's being pursued with Afghanistan, with India," he said and added that Britain was keen to support fully Pakistan's new civilian and democratic government.
"We will do that with a real sense of urgency and commitment," he added.
