Women candidates more this time: Mahila Congress

New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) The All India Mahila Congress today thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi for granting party tickets to more number of women candidates in most of the election-bound states as compared to the previous elections.

AIMC president Prabha Thakur told mediapersons that the state presidents of the Mahila Congress had been directed to actively involve woman volunteers in the election works of the party's women candidates.

"We have issued strict direction that all women volunteers work among women voters and convince them of the need to vote for the Congress for women empowerment," she said.

Ms Thakur said the party had given tickets to 29 women candidates in Madhya Pradesh, 23 in Rajasthan, eight in Delhi and ten in Chhattisgarh.
