Kohima Nov 18 (UNI) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today appealed to all sections of the Naga society to take collective responsibilities for their reconciliation.

Addressing the General Convention 2008 of the Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF), the major coalition partner of the ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here, Mr Rio said the DAN government had welcomed the formation of the Forum of Naga Reconciliation (FNR).

The DAN government also instituted the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) with the same intention to bring all sections of Naga societies together, he added.

He also said the early solution for the decades-old Indo-Naga political problem was on the top of the NPF agenda, adding the party was committed to continue the role of facilitators in the ongoing peace process and political dialogue.

''The Naga people are striving for lasting peace through political dialogue. The NPF, the only functioning regional political party in Nagaland, is trying for peace and brotherhood,'' Mr Rio said.

The General Convention also re-elected Shurhozelie as the President of NPF, while Apong Pongner and K G Kenye were elected as the working president and secretary general respectively.
