Quami Ekta Week in Haryana from Nov 19
Chandigarh, Nov 18 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to observe the 'Quami Ekta Week' from November 19 to 25 in a befitting manner.
A letter to this effect issued by the Chief Secretary here today stated that cultural programmes, seminars, debates, painting competitions will be organised during the week to promote communal harmony and national integration among the people. A sustained drive will be carried out to bring about mass awakening against violence, which impinges on social harmony.
'Quami Ekta Week' would provide an opportunity to all to rededicate themselves to the age old rich traditions and human values, such as---- social tolerance, co-existence and mutual brotherhood. A National Integration Pledge will be taken on November 19.
Meetings, symposia and seminars will be held to emphasise the themes of secularism, anti-communalism and non-violence. On November 20, welfare of minorities day will be observed and items of 15-point programme will be emphasised.
Language harmony day will be observed on November 21 and special literacy functions, kavi sammelans will be organised on this day.
Weaker Sections Day will be observed on November 22 in which welfare programmes being undertaken by the State Government for SCs and BCs would be highlighted on this day.
On November 23, Cultural Unity Day will be observed and cultural functions for promoting cultural conservation and integration will be organised. The role of women in the development of nation building will be highlighted on Women's Day which would be observed on November 24.
Besides, meetings and functions will also be organised to emphasise the growing need for awareness and action to conserve the environment.
