Post-mortem confirms Yogi committed suicide: Police
New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) Two days after BJP's sitting MLA and contestant from Rajinder Nagar constituency Puran Chand Yogi was found dead at his Inderpuri residence in South-West district, the Delhi Police today confirmed that he committed suicide.
The Safdarjang Hospital in south Delhi this afternoon handed in the post-mortem report of Yogi to the Delhi Police, saying he died of strangulation, lending credibility to the theory of suicide.
Further investigations were on, police added.
Yogi, 73, three-time legislator from Rajinder Nagar in Central Delhi, was found hanging from the ceiling fan by his wife on Sunday morning.
However, no suicide note was found near the body.
Family sources had said he was alright till last night except for a little pressure of elections. They had earlier insisted that he died of heart failure.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission yesterday rescheduled the Rajinder Nagar assembly seat election to December 13.
