Patna, Nov 18 (UNI) Cutting accross party lines, political leaders in Bihar today joined hands on the issue of assault on Biharis in Maharashtra and demanded stern legal action against MNS chief Raj Thackeray and the entire Thackeray family.

On the occasion of celebration of the 121st birth anniversary of first Chief Minister of Bihar Dr Shri Krishna Sinha, organised under the aegis of Rahstravadi Vichar Manch, a thinktank of the NCP, the leaders expressed concern over the humiliation and assault on Biharis in Maharshatra.

They demanded action against leaders like Raj Thackeray under constitutional provisions.

Presiding over the function, chairman of the manch and national general secretary of the NCP Prof Navin Kumar described the incidents in Maharashtra, that rocked the entire nation, especially Bihar, as against the spirit of the Constitution in the land of its pioneer.

He said the architect of the Constitution Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar belonged to Maharahstra and it was unfortunate that the constitutional fabric was being damaged at his birth place.

Prof Kumar said it was high time that the government of Maharashtra broke its silence on the issue and initiated lawful action against Raj Thackeray.

Appealing to the leaders to strengthen the feelings of nationalism, Prof Kumar suggested the political parties like the MNS and Shiv Sena to stop indulging in politics of regionalism.

He also lambasted the Bihar gvernment for not providing ample opportunities within the state due to which people of the state were forced to go outside in search of livelihood.

He stressed the need for industrialisation in the state to provide job opportunities.

Addressing the function, Congress working committee member and former minister L P Shahi outlined the contribution of Dr Sri Krishan Sinha, saying that he always strived for the sake of the poor, oppressed sections of the society and the farmers.

JD(U) leader and former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, speaking as chief guest, said Dr Sinha had great leadership and administrative qualities based on which Bihar, during his regime, was stated to be the best governed state.

National working committee member of the LJP Nawal Kishore Shahi, CPI state working committee member L K Tiwari and several others shared their views in the function.

Later, Prof Kumar informed that the manch had decided to highlight the contributions of Dr Sinha by organising district and block level functions all over Bihar.
