Pastor's wife stabbed in Mizoram

Aizawl, Nov 17(UNI) The wife of a Mizoram Presbyterian pastor posted at Ratu, about 150 km from here, was stabbed inside the pastor quarters late last night, police today said.

While Rev Lalramliana, the pastor, was away at Aizawl to attend a church meeting, his wife, H Rohlupuii(35), was knifed by an unidentified person, police added.

She is now struggling for life at the Aizawl Civil Hospital, sources informed.

Police said while a manhunt had been launched to nab the culprit, a probe had been launched in this regard.

The pastor is also the chairman of the local unit Mizoram People's Forum, which has been campaigning for clean and less expensive elections in Mizoram without the involvement of underground outfits of the neighbouring states.

Earlier, MPF president and Presbyterian pastor Rev Chanchinmawia was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside his pastor quarters at Khatla here on October 1, 2007.
