Over Rs 3 lakh looted from trader in Punjab town

Fatehgarh Sahib, Nov 18 (UNI) Three motorcycle borne unidentified robbers looted Rs 3.55 lakh at gunpoint from an iron trader in the industrial town of Mandi Gobindgarh in district this afternoon.

According to police sources, the trader, Vinod Gupta, a resident of Shastri Nagar, Mandi Gobindgarh after withdrawing the amount from a local bank branch was on his way on a scooter to Kukar Majra on Jassran road when the three robbers who were following him on a motorcycle stopped him near Abishak Electronics on Harchand Mill road. Brandishing pistols they snatched the bag containing the cash and sped away even as shopkeepers in the area raised an alarm.

SSP Kaustabh Sharma, SP (D) Shamsher Singh Boparai and other police officials reached the spot after the incident. A case has been registered and a hunt has been launched to nab the alleged accused.
