Kerala HC issues notice to State Govt in Azna case
Kochi, Nov 18 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today issued notice to the state government on an appeal filed by the 13 accused in the Azna attempt to murder case, challenging the Sessions Court order yesterday convicting them under 307 of the IPC.
Justice R Basanth posted further hearing of the case to tomorrow.
The Thalassery Sessions Court had convicted and sentenced the 13 accused for the September 27, 2000 bomb explosion at Cheruvanchery in Kannur district in which a six-year-old girl Azna lost her right leg.
The Sessions Court had sentenced fifth accused N Ramachandran to ten years' imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of Rs 85,000 and the others to five years' imprisonment.
In their appeal, the accused contended that the judgement of the sessions court was against law, fact and evidence.
