HC dismisses Kaduvetti Guru's petition

Chennai, Nov 18 (UNI) The Madras High Court today dismissed a petition filed by Pattali Makkal Katchi leader Kaduvetti Guru, alias Gurunathan, to set aside the detention order under the National Security Act (NSA) passed by the Ariyalur District Collector.

Dismissing the petition, the Division Bench comprising Justices Elephee Dharma Rao and S Thamizhvanan, said after careful consideration the District Collector had passed the detention order.

'No need of interference of the court and hence the petition stards dismissed,' the judges said.

Mr Guru, who was detained under the NSA on July 10, filed a Habeas Corpus petition on July 23, seeking setting aside the NSA orders passed by the Ariyalur District Collector.

In his petition, Mr Guru submitted that the District Collector, without applying his mind and malafide intention detained him under NSA. Therefore the orders be declared as 'null and void,' he prayed.
