CITU demands immediate payment of honorarium to mid-day meal workers
Shimla, Nov 18 (UNI) The district unit of Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) today demanded immediate payment of honorarium to mid-day meal workers in the district.
In a press statement issued here, District CITU Pesident Vijaiender Mehra said that number of workers in Chargaon, Suni and Kumarsain Block had not been paid monthly honorarium for the last eight months despite doing their duty. It was a sheer exploitation of workers.
He alleged that mid-day meal workers were being forced to do the work of water carriers and peons in many schools which was unjustified.
The mid-day meal workers have decided to organise a protest outside state education directorate in Shimla on November 20 next to force the government to accept their demands, including fixation of honorarium of Rs 1500 per month.
