Asst commissioner of Central Excise caught by CBI accepting bribe
New Delhi, Nov 18 (UNI) An assistant commissioner of Central Excise department and his superintendent were today caught red handed by the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) at Ahmedabad while accepting a bribe from a trader for issuing him excise registration certificate, a CBI release said.
Assitant commissioner R C Parmar and his superintendent H A Koli were trapped by CBI sleuths while accepting the bribe of Rs 2500 from the trader, the release said.
Based on a complaint by the trader to the CBI that the duo in Excise Commissionerate were demanding illegal gratification for carrying out their official duty, the CBI laid a trap yesterday and arrested both the officials under the prevention of corruption act.
Both the accused were produced before the special court for CBI cases at Ahmedabad and remanded to judicial custody.
