PMK urges steps to improve facilities in govt schools

Puducherry, Nov 8 (UNI) PMK Parliamentary party leader and state secretary Prof M Ramadass today urged the administration to take immediate steps to provide all basic facilities and fill up the vaccant posts in government schools in Karaikal region of the Union Territory.

In a letter to Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, who is also holding the school education portfolio, he said during his visit to the region last week, parents of the students complained that the nine government schools in the region lacked adequate facilities, including computers. The posts of Principal and Vice-Principal had been lying vacant for several years. Several other posts had also not been filled up.

He said the aggrieved parents have decided to organise agitations in protest and added this should not become a reason for the claim that Karaikal region was being neglected.

In another letter, Prof Ramadass also urged Mr Vaithilingam to take steps to put up a statue of 'Sindanai Sirppi Singaravelar'in Karaikal region.
