Tiruchirapalli, Nov 3 (UNI) The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has signed an 'Integrity Pact' with Transparency International India in order to make its activities transparent, especially inviting tenders for undertaking works, local Airport Director Sreekumar said today.
Participating in a function to unveil the visitor's gallery constucted at a cost of Rs one crore and also 'Vigilance Awareness Week' at the airport here, he said this 'Integrity Pact' would help the AAI authorities eradicate corrupt practices.
Under this Pact, all the contract of more than Rs 50 crore and supplying goods worth more than Rs 30 crore would be made transparent. Both the bidder and the AAI would have to sign a written undertaking that they would not indulge any malpractices in the deal, he said.
He said under this Pact, there would be an external monitoring system, in which an outsider would be able to watch all the contracts and tenders. If he finds that things were going wrong, he would recommend suitable action against either the bidder or the AAI officials.
The Pact would help further improvement of vigilance activities and ensure that things go in right direction, he added.
