More fireworks mishaps in rural areas

Puducherry, Oct 27 (UNI) Unlike in the past, more fire mishaps from cracker bursting were reported from rural areas than urban and sub-urban areas during this Diwali.

Five incidents of thatched huts getting gutted due to sparks from crackers were reported from Thirukkanur, Madukarai and Villianur while only one such incident was reported at Orleanpet.

The total loss in the incidents was estimated at around Rs 75,000.
