Kerala: CPI(M) urges Centre to take action on NDF

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 24: The Central Government should take stern action against the National Development Front (NDF), a Muslim outfit in Kerala, in the wake of their alleged connection with the Kashmiri militants, CPI(M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said today.

Talking at a public function, organised in connection with a book release here, he said both the Centre and the state police should take action against anti-social elements and probe the issue.

Mr Vijayan alleged that the NDF had grown from the status of a religious outfit to the status of a recruiting agency in the state for militant groups.

He alleged that the NDF had turned out as a recruiting agent of the state for the foreign militant groups and even had information that they were sending these recruits to foreign countries for training. ''There is a need for a clarification in this regard,'' he adeed.

He suggested that the police should take stern against those people involved in anti-national activities. Pointing out that both minority and majority fundamentalism were dangerous to the country, he said both should be opposed.
