Global recession to have marginal effect on Bihar:Nitish
Patna, Oct 20 (UNI) Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said global recession would have marginal effect on Bihar's economy as it was yet to get the benefits of ecomomic liberalisation.
Mr Kumar told media persons that in the era of open economy, no one could escape the effect of global recession and India had strong fundamentals to face it and emerge from the current situation.
Expressing his views on effect of global recession on Bihar, he said the state economy was mainly based on agriculture and cottage industries.
''These sectors in Bihar are yet to get the fruits of economic liberalisation and it is natural that the state will be least affected by the world-wide recession,'' he opined.
Asked about the implementation of the recommendations of the sixth pay commission for state government employees, he said the proposal was under active consideration and a decision would be announced at an appropriate moment.
