The MPs--Trichy Shiva, Jinnah and Vasanthi Stanlay-- submitted their resignation letters to party President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

This followed the resoultion adopted at the all-party meeting on October 14 that all MPs from Tamil Nadu, would resign if the Central Government did not prevail upon the Sri Lankan Government to declare a ceasefire within two weeks.
Ms Kanimozhi, the poetess daughter of Mr Karunanidhi was the first Member of Parliament in Tamil Nadu, to submit her papers.
