Petition seeks bar on Patriarch from attending religious meets
Kochi, Oct 13 (UNI) A writ petition was filed in the Kerala High Court today seeking a direction that the Patriarch of Antioch Ignatius Zacca-I should not attend any religious functions in the state during his visit starting later this week.
The petition was filed by two clergymen Dr John Abraham Konat and Dr George Joseph, who contended that the Patriarch was arriving on a visitors visa and was not authorised to attend any religious functions.
If he was allowed to attend any religious meeting, that will violate the Foreigners Rules, they contended.
The matter was part heard by Justice P N Raveendran today and the hearing will continue tomorrow.
