130 entries for Chandigarh Jr Golf
Chandigarh, Oct 6 (UNI) The Usha-Chandigarh Junior and Sub-Junior Indian Golf Union categorised tournament to be conducted from October 7 to 10 has attracted over 130 entries.
Addressing a press conference at Chandigarh Golf Club here today, CGC president DS Bains said that competitions would be conducted for category A (16 to 18 years, maximum handicap 9), category B (13-14 yrs, maximum handicap 12), category C (11-12 yrs, maximum handicap 18) and category D (up to 10 yrs, maximum handicap 30).
As only 30 entries in each category is allowed, pre-qualifiying rounds in category A and B were conducted. All those golfers, who are among the first 20 in the merit list of the Indian Golf Union, are exempted from pre-qualifying round. They get direct entry in the main draw.
Chairman Tournament and Handicapping Tej Partap Singh Virk said the IGU has made it mandatory that the golfers must compete in at least three categorised tournaments. Thirteen girls, including eight from Delhi, are in fray for the titles. Twelve golfers from each categories will be awarded points which are counted to prepare the merit list.
