Coaches on strike Track event not held

Mysore, Oct 4 (UNI) The opening day of the three-day State Level Dasara Sports Meet was marred with protests from Athletics Coaches following which Track events could not be held.

More than 60 coaches from all over the State staged protest against the Karnataka government's attitude in regularising their services, the demand which was pending since many years. Following the protest by Coaches, the athletes did not participate in the events.

The agitating Coaches were taken into custody by the police and shifted them to District Armed Reserve Police grounds, in the outskirts of the city.

Minister for Sports Goolihatti Shekar rushed to the spot on hearing the news and assured the agitators to fulfill their demand.

Latter the agitation was withdrawn by the Coaches.

However, other games were held as per schedule.
