Banking services crippled for Day 2 in K'taka
Bangalore, Sep 25 (UNI) Customers were put to great hardship as the banks remained closed for the second day today with employees and officers participating in a two-day nationwide strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
Speaking to newspersons here, Karnataka Bank Employees Federation Convenor Ravindra blamed the Union Government for the strike.
He said the office bearers of the National Federation would be meeting shortly to chalk out the future course of action.
In Bangalore city, customers were feeling the pinch since ATM screens showed 'Cash Exhausted' and security personnel were not allowing them to operate.
In Mangalore and Udupi, almost all branches of public sector banks and private sector Karnataka Bank remained closed in protest against merger and consolidation in the banking sector and delay in the wage settlement.
Protest demonstrations were held through out the State by the agitating employees.
