10 more militants killed in Bajaur Agency
Khar (Pak), Sept 16 : Pakistan security forces today claimed to have gunned down ten more militants in the Bajaur Agency. Several militants were also injured in the air attacks carried out with the help of security forces gunship-helicopters and jet planes.
According to sources, the helicopters and jet planes fired shells and bombs at militants' hideouts in Bajaur Agency, killing ten terrorists instantly.
According to The News, security forces pounded militants' positions with gunship helicopters and jet planes in Loisam, Tangkhata and Shakai area of Bajaur Agency, killing at least 10 militants.
Meanwhile, indefinite curfew was enforced in the area while people were fleeing to safe places.
Bajaur Agency has been facing the worst ever face-off between terrorists and Pakistani security forces, as a result of which a large number of people are fleeing the tribal area to safer places.
Today's killings of militants were in the series of crackdown launched by Pakistani security forces on the terrorists. Around 30 militants were killed on Saturday, and 17 more were gunned down the following day. The sudden pro-activeness on the part of the Pakistani security forces was in the wake of a fresh spate of unilateral strikes by US-led NATO forces on tribal areas in Pakistan, from across Afghanistan border.
In strong reactions to such unilateral US' strikes, Pakistani Army and senior ministers had said that it was the sovereign right of the Pakistan Government to strike at the militants and that no foreign troops would be allowed to carry out such attacks in future.
