DESAM calls for quality education in the state
Imphal, Jul 31: The Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has urged all to work for bringing quality education in the state, apart from abiding by the University Grant Commission (UGC) guidelines. In this regard, an educational awareness campaign would be launched from August 15, according to the DESAM here.
Alleging that the government officials were not committed to the welfare of the students, the students' body urged the teachers not to forget their duties. '' It is mandatory to take classes for 180 days in a year. A teacher must work 40 hours a week in the college, out of which 16 hours must be spent to teaching, '' it said. The DESAM also advocated that the students should attend 75 per cent of the total classes per session and its violation would incur stern actions.
