Bandh affects life partially in Manipur

Imphal, Jul 30 (UNI) Life was partially affected in Manipur today due to a 24-hour bandh called by the All Manipur Hills Government Aided Elementary Schools Teachers Association.

The strike, observed in protest against the cancellation of grants to 171 aided schools in Manipur by the State Education Department, began at 6 am.

It is also supported by the All Manipur Aided Schools Co-ordinating Committee , the Zomi Students' Federation and the Churachandpur District Students Union.

As a result, the traffic on National Highway No. 39 was affected and all inter state bus services were cancelled.

No untoward incident had been reported so far, police informed.
