Train services disrupted to demand compensation for accident victims

Saharsa, Jul 29 (UNI) Train services between Saharsa and Mausi junction in the district were disrupted for several hours today when a large number of people blocked the railway tracks demanding compensation for the victims of yesterday's bus accident.

A minor girl and a teacher were killed when their school bus skidded into a roadside ditch near Simri, about 40 km from here yesterday.

East Central Railway sources said as a result of the blockade, several long distance mail and Express trains were detained at different stations, delaying their journey for several hours.

Among them were 5209 up Saharsa-Amritsar Expresss, 5276 down Barauni-Saharsa Express, 343 up Saharsa-Khagaria Fast Passenger and Barauni-Saharsa Passenger.

The blockade was lifted at around 1200 hours after Saharsa District Magistrate Giridhar Sahu visited the spot and assured the agitators of paying Rs 10,000 each to the next of kin of the deceased as compensation.
