Pune lawyer held for fraud, Rs 1.10 cr worth cars seized

Kolhapur, Jul 13 (UNI) A Pune-based lawyer was arrested by the local crime branch (LCB) on cheating charges and two cars, worth Rs 1.10 crore, were seized from him.

Lawyer Sunil Hanamant Sunil Shirole, presently in police custody, was arrested here on July 6, following a cheating complaint registered against him by one Arinjay Duryodhan Patil from Bhendwade in Hatkangale tehsil of the district, an LCB release said here today.

Mr Patil had approached Shirole to avail a loan to start a business with his relative. Shirole allegedly showed him fake documents of a foreign bank giving loans on low interest rates and extracted Rs 70 lakh from him on the pretext of getting the loan sanctioned immediately.

Later, whenever Mr Patil enquired about the loan, Shirole told him the loan was getting delayed due to inadequate documents. Mr Patil grew suspicious and wrote a letter to SBI Mauritius branch, the bank from which Shirole had promised to get a loan for him and found out that his account balance was nil.

Following this, Mr Patil lodged a compaint against Shirole with the Petwadgaon police in Hatkangale, which led to his arrest by the LCB.

During the investigation, police recovered various fake documents, passbooks of 25 banks and ATM cards, the release said.

From his passbook, the police also discovered that he had 89 acres of land in Mulshee, 2.5 acres in Nanegaon and a flat and office in Pune.
