Amar Singh wishes well new friendship between BSP-CPI(M)

Mumbai, Jul 13 (UNI) Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh today congratulated the new found love of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) with the Bahujan Samaj Party.

Mr Singh, talking to newsmen here, initially declined to comment on the meeting of CPI (M) leader Prakash Karat with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP Supremo Mayawati. On further prodding, he said, ''I compliment the new friendship.'' Citing verses from the book of Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, on political relationships, Mr Singh said that he would not like to make any comment on Mr Karat, as one day they could meet once again.

He said the Bharatiya Janata Party had also contacted Samajwadi Party, with regards to bringing down the UPA government and recalled the meeting he had with BJP Leader Jaswant Singh in New Delhi on July two, when the latter had stated that the entire opposition had joined to pull down the Manmohan Singh led Government.

He said the Hobsons choice before the Samajwadi party was to choose between US President George Bush, Leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha and BJP prime ministerial candidate L K Advani and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The party zeroed in on Dr Singh, he added.
