Drugs worth Rs 35 lakh seized, 2 held

Kanpur, June 14 (UNI) Police today arrested two smugglers, including drug mafia Brijendra Sonkar's son, and seized charas and smack worth Rs 35,00,000 from them in Govind Nagara area of this industrial city.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) A K Singh said ''Rajesh Sonkar, son of the drug mafia, was nailed down along with his driver Krishna Kumar during vehicle checking drive at Gujaini bypass.'' 500 gm charas and 280 gm smack were seized from them, the SSP added.

Later, police raided Sonkar's house and recovered more drugs.

Rajesh Sonkar was released on bail only four days back, Mr Singh said, adding, three members of the gang were already in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the police party was rewarded with Rs 2,500.
