Nickel cathode, aluminium & brass cuttings dip; copper up

Mumbai, June 3 (UNI) A mixed trend was witnessed in ferrous and non ferrous metal prices today, as copper heavy, copper wire bars and tin slab gained on strong advice from global markets, but nickel cathode, aluminium and brass cuttings declined on sustained selling pressure by stockists on bearish advice from London Metal Exchange (LME), Kolkata, Delhi and southern regions, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said here.

In the ferrous metal category (per quintal), brass cuttings and aluminium utensils declined steeply by Rs 100 and Rs 200 respectively on renewed selling pressure by stockists and larger stocks supply from Delhi, Indore, Kolkata and other centres.

However, copper heavy and copper utensils prices looked up by Rs 200 and Rs 100 respectively on scattered demand from local dealers.

In the non-ferrous metal category (per quintal), copper wire bars and tin slab went up by Rs 200 per quintal and Rs 15 per kg respectively in line with copper in ferrous segment.

But aluminium ingots and nickel cathode eased again by Rs 100 per quintal and Rs five per kg respectively on thin industrial users demand.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 37,100, copper utensils - Rs 33,100, brass utensils - Rs 25,000, brass cuttings - Rs 26,300 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,300.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 40,700, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,700, zinc slab - Rs 11,800, lead ingots - Rs 11,200, tin slab - Rs 1,195 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 1,160 per kg.
